Beautiful Terrain |
When I worked in unity, I learned how to make a 3D game with different objects and a 3D, 3rd person, character. In this game, we learned how to add different textures to or terrain and paint different colors on the ground. We also added a bunch of trees that I placed using a mass place trees. This places a bunch of trees randomly across our whole terrain. For extra detail, I added a white paint on top of the tall hills for a snow effect. I also added a path where my character can walk on. In Unity, I was quickly able to understand the fundamentals of building a game and I realized that is not too hard to build a small game, but it is a very time consuming task.

We have been making a 2D game for the past month in class. We started by downloading assets and prefabs to use in our game. We added things like platforms and backgrounds to create a better looking game. We had to create layers like a foreground and background to have a difference between what the player runs on and the images in the back. The code of the game had to be updated to create different visualizations of when the player is running or idle. In our code, we used things like if-statements, else-statements, and boolean functions. We also used code to add movement to the game. When the keys 'a' and 'd' are pressed, we move to the left or right. We also added a jump when the spacebar is pressed. I really enjoyed learning about 2D games, because this is a game that I would want to make for my final project. I think I've learned a lot over the past month to where I could make my own 2D game.
